Part C – Our event
Conditions of entry
To participate in the Breakthrough T1D One Ride each person must register online, pay a non-refundable registration fee and choose a Fundraising Package. Each package has a minimum fundraising target. Once the participant has banked the minimum fundraising target, they will be eligible to participate in the Breakthrough T1D One Ride.
Registrants must be over the age of 14 to participate in the Breakthrough T1D One Ride and anyone under 18 years of age must be always chaperoned by a parent or carer and particularly when on the circuit.
Registration fees
A non-refundable registration fee does apply to enter the Breakthrough T1D One Ride. The entry fee is not a donation to Breakthrough T1D. Please seek independent advice on your tax arrangements.
Minimum fundraising targets and banking deadlines
Each participant must reach or exceed their minimum fundraising target to participate in the event. Participants who have not banked sufficient funds, or who cannot provide proof that sufficient funds have been secured (e.g. via matching gift programs), will not be able to take part.
To ensure all participants fundraise in a timely manner Breakthrough T1D has implemented a first target banking deadline. All participants are requested to follow the fundraising deadlines below, as this will allow Breakthrough T1D to proceed with booking flights and accommodation at best prices. Participants who register close to or after the first fundraising date are asked to bank $1,000 as soon as possible to secure flights and accommodation.
Breakthrough T1D cannot confirm flights and/or accommodation for participants who have not banked fundraising as per the fundraising guidelines listed below.
*In order to allow Breakthrough T1D to secure flights at the best possible price, Riders are asked to bank their first $1,000 as soon as possible, or within 4 weeks of registering. We plan to have all flights booked by 31 May 2026.

Non-Riding Supporter and Weekend Supporter Packages, and fundraising targets
Breakthrough T1D understands that some Riders may wish to bring a supporter with them who will not be riding. To assist this, Breakthrough T1D has created a Non-Riding Supporter Package (in support of Full Package Riders). This covers all aspects of the weekend, including flights and transfers, excluding participation in the One Ride. Non-Riding Supporters must pay a non-refundable registration fee of $100, achieve a minimum fundraising target of $2,700 and share a room with their Full Package fundraising rider partner. Each Non-Riding Supporter must complete a separate registration and nominate the registered Rider they will be supporting. The number of Non-Riding Supporter Packages is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
The Weekend Supporter Package is available to those accompanying Weekend Riders. Weekend Supporters must pay a non-refundable registration fee of $100, achieve a minimum fundraising target of $1,700 and share a room with their fundraising Weekend Rider. Each Weekend Supporter must complete a separate registration and nominate the registered Rider they will be supporting. The number of Weekend Supporter Packages is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
The minimum fundraising target for any package selected will not be reduced if Riders elect to not take advantage of all nights at the hotel, all meals, ground transportation or other standard package benefits.
Travel and accommodation
Interstate flights
If you’ve registered as a Full Package Rider or Non-Riding Supporter, Breakthrough T1D will book your flight to arrive in Adelaide on the morning of Friday 20 November; your return flight will be in the afternoon of Sunday 22 November. Your flight details will be provided no later than 1 November 2026. You will be part of a group booking. You will need to approach the booking desk of the carrier when you arrive at the airport to receive your boarding pass.*
*Those eligible for flights are Full Package Riders and Non-Riding Supporters who have raised a minimum $1,000.
**Should you need to discuss your flight arrangements, contact Justine Surin, Breakthrough T1D national event manager, at jsurin@BreakthroughT1D.org.au or 0449 932 978.
Transporting bikes to the event
Your bike will need to be packed in a box or bike carry bag for transportation. If you are booked on a Qantas flight you can organise a bike box directly with Qantas, which should be completed no later than 1 month before you leave. Your local bike shop may be able to assist you with packing your bike into the box.
Breakthrough T1D will supply bike technicians for the event. On arrival at the hotel, please unpack your bike and pass it to a bike mechanic to set it up for you.
At the end of the ride, find your box and lay your bike on top of it. If capable, please begin the dismantle process. When the mechanic is free, pass your bike and bike box to them.
It is each participant’s personal responsibility to get their bike to the airport. Breakthrough T1D is unable to assist in transporting bikes outside of the above arrangements due to the cost and logistical difficulty in supplying these facilities, particularly at late notice.
It is highly recommended that you consider travel insurance when transporting a bike.
Accommodation
Accommodation will be twin share at the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort. Single person accommodation (own room) may be available subject to availability for an additional fee of $400. The additional cost will be charged to the participant’s credit card prior to the weekend and is only guaranteed once the charge is processed.
Coach transfers for flights arranged by Breakthrough T1D
Upon arrival at Adelaide airport, you will be met by the Breakthrough T1D Team. Once you have collected your luggage the Breakthrough T1D Team will escort you to the coach for transfer to the Barossa Valley. In order for the coaches to meet all flights you may be required to wait for a short while at the airport until all guests for that coach have arrived.
Coach transfers for flights booked by participants
Full Package Riders and Non-Riding Supporters who choose to book their own flights must inform their Breakthrough T1D Account Manager if requiring transport to the Barossa Valley, or if transport has been selfarranged.
Post-event travel and bike transport
Trucks transporting bikes from the Barossa Valley to Adelaide airport will arrive at the airport in time for you to meet your Breakthrough T1D booked flight. Riders who want Breakthrough T1D to organise bike transport to Adelaide airport must meet the bike truck at the airport to collect their bike.
Please note there are no bike storage facilities available at Adelaide airport. Each participant is solely responsible for their own luggage, including bikes.
Full Package Riders and Non-Riding Supporters who book their own flights must advise their Breakthrough T1D Account Manager of their plans. Breakthrough T1D is unable to arrange additional transport outside of journeys planned to meet designated flights.
Aid stations
Volunteers will provide basic nutrition such as water and fruit at each designated aid station. Breakthrough T1D does not provide energy or protein supplements or other high-level sustenance.
All participants should consider their own health and medical needs and carry their requirements with them, particularly those on the 120km and 160km ride routes.
Cancellation policies
Rider cancellation policy
Breakthrough T1D is bound by contracts with several different organisations to make this event possible. As a result, Breakthrough T1D must provide guarantees by certain deadlines, resulting in established costs that must be covered.
The registration fee is non-refundable, regardless of when a Rider elects to withdraw from the event.
Regardless of when a Rider withdraws, all funds raised on their online fundraising page will remain with Breakthrough T1D. No refunds will be provided. It is the responsibility of the rider to alert their donors of withdrawal from the event.
A Rider Cancellation Policy has been established to ensure these obligations are met. (The amount charged on the cancelling participant’s credit card will be the difference between the cancellation fee minus what has already been raised.)
Breakthrough T1D cancellation policy
Breakthrough T1D reserves the right to cancel any person’s participation at any stage if, in Breakthrough T1D’s opinion, it is unlikely the rider will meet the minimum fundraising target of the participation package they have selected.
At Breakthrough T1D’s discretion, a Rider may be allowed to participate in a package with a lower fundraising target than originally selected, subject to the minimum fundraising target of the new package being exceeded.
Regardless of withdrawal date, all funds raised on their online fundraising page will remain with Breakthrough T1D. No refunds will be provided. It is the responsibility of the rider to alert their donors of their withdrawal from the event.
